I went to Detroit and that’s where we met Jed, a homeless artist selling his paintings just to get by.
I approached Jed pretending to be injured. Without hesitation, Jed stopped everything he was doing to help. He wrapped my ankle, made sure I was okay, and showed real compassion, even though he had so little himself.
Through a simple conversation, I learned Jed’s story and surprised him with $1,000 in cash as a thank you for his kindness.
After sharing Jed’s story, our community came together in the most incredible way. I launched a fundraiser, and over $50,000 was raised, enough to cover an entire year of rent and give Jed a real chance to reset his life.
This video is a reminder that kindness shows up in unexpected places, and that when people come together, real change is possible.
Be kind. Love always.
