Elderly Grandpa Gifted $100,000 Gets Kidnapped And Barely Survives

On Detroit’s 8 Mile, I waited outside a pawn shop running a simple kindness test, posing as a blind man who was down on his luck, hoping to see if anyone would stop to help.

That’s when he met Curtis.

Curtis was headed into the pawn shop to sell his wedding ring so he could pay his family’s light bill. Despite having almost nothing himself, he didn’t hesitate. He stopped, checked on me, and did everything he could to help, including giving him a few dollars for bus money from the little he had just made.

Moments later, I revealed the truth and thanked Curtis for his genuine kindness, surprising him with $1,000 in cash. Overwhelmed, Curtis immediately went back inside to get his wedding ring back.
After Part 1 was released, something incredible happened.

The community came together and raised over $100,000 to help Curtis get back on his feet. We reunited with Curtis and his family and surprised him with:
• New wedding rings (after learning his wife no longer had hers)
• A new car
• $100,000 cash

What happened next was heartbreaking.

Weeks after filming Part 2, Curtis was targeted because of the money raised for him. His new car was destroyed, and he was put through an unimaginable situation. We stayed close, supporting him through the aftermath constantly checking in.

Months later, we checked in again.
Curtis had every reason to be bitter. Every reason to shut the world out.

Instead, he chose faith.
He chose grace.
He chose to keep believing in people, despite what had happened to him .

This is what real strength looks like.

Be kind. Love always.
